We're still here!

As much as we would like to concentrate fully on CYT little things like exams and work continue to require our attention. We're not going away though. We have been seeking the Lord recently about the best way to move forward. Keep praying for us as we do so.

We are planning an event for the month of March. A date has yet to be fixed but the 24th of March is looking likely. If you are one of the dedicated few people reading this site then please let other people know. Pray and intercede because the enemy does not want events like ours to succeed.

More information will follow.

First Event Review

The first event of the Cork Youth Together movement took place on Friday the 7th of October. It was a very successful meeting given that this is the first time that something like this has taken place in Cork (that this author is aware of). The meeting started in good Irish fashion at 8.25 pm with approximately 50 people present from different denominations and areas of the city and county.

It opened with a time of praise and worship. The music was led by the worship team from the Ballincollig Christian Fellowship. Despite a bit of unfamiliarity with the songs everyone enjoyed themselves. The band are now considering the possibility of making a CD given the amount of requests for just such an item!

Steven Day then shared what Cork Youth Together is about and why he feels it needs to exist. He opened with Psalm 133:1 and gave a brief synopsis of his own testimony.

“As a young person growing up I always felt somewhat alone. I had my small circle of friends in my youth group but we didn’t all share the same interests which made me feel even more alone. As Christians we always have God to rely on. He is always faithful and He never leaves us. We must remember that we are not alone. We have each other. We just need to see each other more often.”

He then read from Ephesians 4:1-6.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.

After this the people present remembered the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. One person took the bread and another person took the wine. Each ‘half’ had to find a stranger and share Communion with them. The night ended with a song.

All in all this was a very positive first step for Cork Youth Together. The hope is now that the word will spread and more young people will come to be encouraged and blessed by God and each other.

The next event is planned to take place sometime in November. Please keep us in your prayers and pray the God will guide us and protect us.

1st Event

The first scheduled event for Cork Youth Together will take place on Friday the 7th of October from 8p.m. - 10p.m. in 53 McCurtain Street. It is aimed at ages from 14 years old to mid twenties.

The event will kick off with a time of praise and worship. It will be led by a local Christian band who have been together for several years and who regularly serve other fellowships through prasing God. There will be a short sharing followed by a time of fellowship.

We pray that God blesses this first event. We pray that His name is honoured and glorified above all else. We pray that this would hearld a new beginning for the city of Cork. We pray that the young people who come are touched and know that they are not alone. Finally, we pray that this is the first of many.

What can I do?

Pray
It is better to have 100 people praying for this movement than to receive €100 in a donation. Please cover this in prayer. The enemy will attack those involved and the young people who will come. So please pray for protection and guidance.

We are having trouble in finding a suitable venue in the city to hold the first event. If you can suggest a possible location please comment on this post or email the administrator.

Pray that God will soften the hearts of important leaders in the city. Please pray that people will see this for what it is. A genuine attempt to glorify God and edify the Body of Christ in Cork.

Spread the Word
Let other people know about this event. This event, in the main, is being passed on through word of mouth. If you know of anyone who would be interested in getting involved or coming along let them know of this website.

What is this?

The first meeting of the Cork Youth Together movement is planned for Friday the 7th of October. It represents an important step in achieving a genuine, ongoing relationship between the different fellowships in the city. The purpose of these events is to foster an ongoing relationship between the different fellowships in the city regardless of denomination or differences.

The long term purpose is that the Christian youth in the city and county will be blessed and encouraged, so that they in turn can reach their friends and family who have yet to know Jesus as their personal Saviour.

There is no hidden agenda here. There is none. This is nothing else but an attempt to see God glorified.
